Mended with Gold Counseling
Stephanie Brell, LCSW CADC I

Setbacks in life build strengths and resiliency for future challenges. Like a pot mended with gold, transitions can change us, for the better. We have the opportunity to become stronger and wiser and better acquainted with ourselves.

The cracks in your life can heal to build a more vibrant, resilient you.

I specialize in helping people find clarity during confusing and anxiety provoking times. I help people develop compassion for themselves and identify strategies for coping when the old ways of managing no longer work.

Each one of us possesses problem-solving strengths. In times of stress and transition, these strengths can seem dormant. Therapy can uncover personal strengths. I help people develop and enhance their individual coping strategies to move toward a life of integrity and strength.

I am honored to partner with people as they face the really difficult periods of life. My experience as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker includes work in private practice, hospitals, home-based health care, hospice, outpatient behavioral health care, chronic pain management program, chemical dependency treatment, residential programs, nursing homes and assisted living apartments. Regardless of setting, my goal is to offer user-friendly and immediate ways to help you feel better--today.

People seek counseling from me when they are looking for a change. Sometimes, the old ways of coping no longer work. Relationships to family, spouses, and children change, promoting a reassessment of priorities. Many also seek counseling when health issues such as chronic pain or addiction cause  concern. I often help people:

  • Manage chronic pain

  • Enhance anxiety management skills

  • Heal from grief

  • Understand family dynamics

  • Discover ways to cope without using substances/behaviors

  • Decrease use of addictive substances/behaviors

  • Care for self while a loved one uses substances/behaviors

  • Ease care giving stress when caring for a health compromised adult or child

  • Explore values

  • Understand how personal history impacts current coping

  • Navigate life transitions

Our lives are complex. Counseling can provide a calm, safe place to identify your strengths to create a stronger and wiser you. Sometimes problems appear too big to handle. Even a few sessions can provide tools and support to ease you through a really difficult time.
